Kithara: Short Story

Poli and Pato started the band as a duo year 2008. The band name has always been the same since the very start. We googled any word related to GUITAR and we found KITHARA which means, the lyre of the God APOLLO, and learned that it is the greek word of the word ‘guitar’.

The duo became a trio. Pato on vocals, Poli on guitar and Dex on beatbox. This began their journey to the music scene. First ever written song is “TO MOVE ON”. The trio got help from friends who played their songs in the radio and who helped them create the music video for it. Kithara was independent then. The song peaked the charts outside Metro Manila but never heard inside it.

Fast forward, the song was their key to be under the wing of WARNER MUSIC PH. This time, the band got Jun as their bassist. This partnership helped the band publish their songs and albums in different online platforms. The band was able to release two EP albums LOVE.LOST.FOUND, which contained To Move On as a single and ONE WORD STORY which contained the singles “BLINDED” and “PAYO”. They have also released a cover single of the song “FOREVERMORE” by Side A.

After 10 years, and under a very good management, the band got Apollo as their violinist and keyboardist and released their hit-song “HINDI PARA SA’YO”. Kithara has just released their latest single “MAG-ISA”.
